David,

Thanks for the links! I realized after I posted that I hadn’t really mentioned password safe solutions for those using Mac or Linux.

Just to be clear, you’re actually a developer affiliated with one or both of these projects, right? So, your comment is technically an advert . . . but it’s right on topic. And I appreciate the links.
I like Open Source software in general, but especially for cryptography, that’s one of the reasons I’ve been a supporter of KeePass. I also think that KeePass is quite convenient despite the fact that it doesn’t give you access to the passwords from within the browser. There are free plug-ins that allow auto-fill of forms and help with the convenience issue.

Truthfully, I’m not sure how much access I want my browser to have to my secure passwords anyway. Especially IE.

There seem to be plenty of other good packages out there as well, though, both free and paid.

Here’s are some other links I found:

I liked KeePass, it was very good at improving my security because I was able to use randomly generated passwords and no longer needed to reuse passwords for multiple websites.

The problem I had with KeePass is it was not very convenient. I wanted to be able to access my passwords from within the browser and have the passwords automatically entered.

Give RoboForm for windows or 1Passwd for mac os x a try. Neither are free, but the convenience and phishing protection are worth it.
