Practical Web Design Magazine

Don’t know about you, but I love me some geek reading. Unfortunately, there are only so many books I can read in my ‘spare time.’ So recently, I picked up the Practical Web Design Magazine, which is a great monthly UK publication dedicated to “Helping you build better websites.”

Each issue is packed with news, reviews, how-to articles, and clever tips. And if that’s not enough, they include a CD filled with cool stuff including audio of the Practical Web Design Podcast as well as free software, video lessons, and tutorial files.

Validate HTML & CSS With Firefox

Making sure your pages validate is a snap with the Firefox Web Developer Toolbar Extension.

Many web development applications bundle in ways to check your page markup. Both Dreamweaver 8 and TopStyle Pro (tools I use daily) have this functionality built-in, or you can also use nifty online tools, like those at W3C:

If your web development tools don’t have built-in validators, or you’d like a second opinion, the Web Developer Toolbar offers an easy way to validate HTML and CSS (among many other things) from any page on the web.
